Promoted by Mark Ward-Jones on behalf of the Torfaen Constituency Labour Party at 27 Brunel Road, Fairwater, Cwmbran, Torfaen NP44 4QT.
Yesterday Nick Thomas-Symonds met with the team behind the Torfaen ‘Dress to Impress’ scheme to learn more about how it is having a positive impact on local people.
Dress to Impress is a new initiative which was created through the partnership of Melin Homes and Torfaen County Borough Council as part of Bridges into Work. Their aim is to give free, quality interview appropriate clothing to any resident of Torfaen for an upcoming interview.
First impressions in job interviews are key and dressing appropriately is often seen as a test of a candidate’s familiarity of the company and industry. It is vital that the candidate feels confident in the knowledge that they look smart so they can focus on presenting themselves to the best of their ability in the interview.
Mr Thomas-Symonds said, ‘It was brilliant to hear about people who have benefited hugely from this initiative. We need to be supporting people into work and having an appropriate outfit can make a candidate feel more comfortable in the interview.’
